Happy New Year - so - Create a Card with Crafters Companion

Happy new year to everyone and it's the 4th of January already! time to get back into the swing of things and that means starting our craft classes for 2017 and the first one of this year will be on Thursday 5th at 10.00 am. so I hope you will all be raring to go.
To start the new year I decided to try out one of the new products from C C which happens to be  the Fancy Card Blanks. These are card packs with expandable envelopes and they come in different sizes and colors and have different fancy folds so all the hard work has already been done for you and they are designed to work with all your Square Create-a-Card Dies enabling you to make some really stunning cards with minimum effort. I have chosen to do my own take on the sample cards which are shown on the front of the 8x8 Centre Fold Back card and the Square Side Step card packs, I have kept the colours very similar and used the same embossing folder on the 8x8 card and tweaked it by adding some Pixie Powder and of course some Gilding Polish. On the other one I changed the colour and the design slightly but you could make them look very different.

Here's a list of what I used.

Create a Card die 5" square Happy Birthday
And Butterfly Garden. (there are other designs to choose from).

Dies Lazy Daisy and the fern leaf from Wildflower Trio.

Distress Ink pads
Shaded Lilac
Tumbled Glass
Peeled Paint
Forest Moss

Pixie powder Pale Olive

The card packs come in different sizes and each design can be in white, black or Kraft. Card.

Gilding Polish Haybale and  Heather.

I have used the Haybale polish onto the die cut image before adding a touch of Tumbled Glass ink.

The inside panel has been inked and dried first before adding the Pixie powder and spritzing with water allowed to dry again then put into the folder for embossing.
The darker Forest Moss ink has been used to highlight the embossed pattern.
Haybale gilding polish is applied lightly over the top to finish off.

The base cards are made from 300gsm card stock.

I used my Gemini machine which cut them both like a dream.

The background panel behind the main die cut image is embossed mirror card.

This time I  applied Shaded Lilac ink to the main die cut image and also the Lazy Daisy flower.

The fern leaves have been die cut from silver mirror card

That's it for now, see you all soon x
